Caution Advised If Using Microwaved Compresses on Your Eyelids to Relieve Dry Eye Disease

EyeGiene Insta-Warmth System for Dry Eye Relief

For most people suffering from Dry Eye Disease, relief comes from the application of heat to the eyelids to loosen the oils flowing from the Meibomian Gland that comprise one of the three elements of tears.

Critically, the oil needs to be treated for a period of at least 10 minutes at a specific temperature.

One solution competitors sell are microwavable compresses or patches that purport to deliver the heat needed to melt the oil and get it flowing again.

This solution has risks, however.

  • You cannot regulate the temperature of a microwaved compress. Microwaves vary in wattage, and two machines can warm the patch to different temperatures. So you will be applying a mask to your eye that is either too cool to do the job, or hot enough that the patch could potentially burn your eyelid.
Once you remove the compress from the microwave, it immediately begins to lose heat. This further limits the microwaved compress from delivering the right amount of heat for the required amount of time.

This potential variation in temperature regulation renders microwave eye compresses less effective for treating Dry Eye Disease.

EyeGiene Insta-Warmth packets work more consistently and effectively than microwaved masks

Our mask works better for three key reasons:

  • The oil clogged in the ducts coming from the Meibomian glands melt at a specific temperature of 110 degrees. Unlike a microwaved mask, EyeGiene engineers the correct amount of thermal energy into the product to more safely deliver the needed heat.
  • You don’t need a microwave. EyeGiene packets are engineered to rise to the correct temperature in a few moments when activated, and hold the needed temperature for the needed minimum of 10 minutes. Regardless of where you are (traveling, going to bed or taking a nap) our packets deliver the right temperature for the right amount of time. No dry eye solution is more convenient and effective.
  • Finally, it is the heat that is important, and the moisture content does nothing to treat the disease. In fact, using “moist” heat may have an effect opposite to the desired outcome. For example, when getting out of a pool, even on a hot day, we feel cold due to the heat of evaporation. This draws heat out of the body. Therefore, EyeGiene uses a precise, calibrated system to deliver controlled, consistent dry heat to the eyelids.

Most EyeGiene patients use our product in the comfort of their bedrooms, as they go to sleep. Most people do not have a microwave in the bedroom. So, the inconvenience of warm compresses that require a microwave limit their use and reduce effectiveness. They tend to skip treatment sessions because they are already done in the kitchen and settling into bed. This make EyeGiene far more convenient, because EyeGiene has engineered the specified thermal energy right into the product, so it can be used safely anywhere (e.g. plane, train, ship, hotel, home, office), anytime, without the need for any external energy source.

EyeGiene Insta-Warmth Compresses Make Treatment So Easy Patients are Able to Use Them as Instructed!

Patients suffering from Dry Eye Disease are certainly motivated to apply the treatment they need to relieve their symptoms. The easier we can make it for the patient to stick to the treatment plan, the better results the patient gets. That is why we developed our Insta-Warmth Compresses. The patient simply opens the insert packet, thereby automatically activates the Warming Wafers, slips these into each side of the mask and puts the mask on for at least ten minutes. This level of convenience, accuracy, and effectiveness is why the EyeGiene system is growing so quickly in popularity.
