Mitron Medical, a division of the BIB group, has launched the EyeGiene Insta-Warmth eye compress solution for the treatment of dry eye.
Created and developed by Eyedetec USA and its founder, ophthalmologist Barry J Linder, the Eyegiene compress was said to provide a warming method for the treatment of dry eye, blepharitis, and chalazion.
Patients open sealed foil packages and place the warming system into each eye pouch contained within the eye mask provided. The correct temperature is reached within seconds and is maintained for between eight and 10 minutes. The warming systems are then removed and disposed of.
Tim Baker, BIB group CEO, said: ‘EyeGiene has been created to offer patients added convenience, added safety and above all a controlled and effective timed treatment session. Patient self-treatment plans rely of course on every patient following a correct procedure. The EyeGiene solution minimises the variables and associated risks of self-administration and thus EyeGiene has fast become the first choice of warm eye compress solutions for the effective treatment of dry eye.’
The company added that the product also provided practitioners with an additional revenue stream through repeat sales of the warming systems.
